The unsupervised internet access experience by Anastasia McKnight (me :P)
Portion of a video work I made last year on the dangers of minors having unsupervised internet access, reflecting on all the horrors I was exposed to in the mid 2000s to early 2010s

my first autistic special interest was the lion king. i tell people this and they think 'oh you watched the movie a lot? maybe had some plushies?'
and sadly this is not the case
i was on the interwebs scouring every site available to me (quotev, tumblr, deviantart, youtube, and obscure disney forums) that could give me lion king information.
it went from an obsession with the play (in which i played a hyena when i was in 4th grade) and it's production to the movie's lore. i was obsessed with this slightly obscure lion king community that spent their days writing/drawing/posting about the community-made lore.
half of it was based on the lion king 2, which is still my favorite disney movie. the other half was some random notes made by the creators. and the rest was just people writing and discussing and developing OCs into accepted characters of the canon.
it was so fun. i wrote a 97 page lion king fanfiction depicting the 3 generations before mufasa/simba time. i was a bit insane. i did this all on a windows computer like this one.

it was in my great-grandmother's living room, who i spent literally every single weekend with and who left me largely unsupervised. '
this is why i am the way i am.

I would say something but I did watch elfenlied as an unsupervised 12 year old with an internet access
I wonder if “we have to torture this special character. in the lab facility. with secret science.” is an interest all 12-year-old children share or were we just the generation exposed to Maximum Ride

when i was a kid, every collection of books—large or small, public or private—had at least one small grubby volume called “fifty japanese fairy tales” “african folk tales” “who’s a-knockin at my door and other scary stories” “haunting mysteries of the sea” “golden threads: slavic fairy stories” “the unabridged grimm’s fairy tales,” and that book would contain at least one short story bizarre and haunting enough to permanently rewire your brain. and babey i was a fucking bloodhound hunting them down

Sherlock and House crossover AU
Sherlock: I switched John’s phone language to Icelandic. He’s been trying to translate texts with Google for the last two hours.
House: I changed Wilson’s ringtone to the sound of a cardiac monitor flatlining. He nearly had a heart attack.
Sherlock: Efficient and thematic.
House: I aim to please.
John (to Wilson): We could just... ignore them?
Wilson: Ignoring them only makes them try harder.
